Dr. Ehitua Juliua Oziegbe
Department of Geosciences
Personal Statement
Dr. Oziegbe is a petrologist and a geochemist. His work focuses on the geological characterization of the Basement Complex rocks of Southwestern Nigeria. Which includes the geochemistry & mineralogy of pelitic gneiss, granite, and diorite. He is also involved in the investigation of the bioremediation of heavy metals in landfill soils and analyzing the industrial potential of clay deposits.
He has used XRF and XRD methods in the characterization of clay in southwestern Nigeria and also analyzed different parts of migmatite in the Basement Complex of Nigeria using an Electron Probe Micro-analyzer (EPMA). Professor Obashoro-John is a prolific scholar and public intellectual whose works include the books Caring for Older Persons (2007), Successful Retirement (2016), and her University of Lagos Inaugural Lecture, Programme Evaluation: Back to the Future (2013). Her international scholarship includes a co-authored chapter with Professor Brian Findsen of the University of Waikato, New Zealand, addressing lifelong learning for older adults, published in Adult Education and Social Justice: International Perspectives (Firenze University Press, 2023).
