Dr. Kehinde S. Ishola

Department of Geosciences

Personal Statement

I am  a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Geosciences, Faculty of Physical and Earth Sciences. My area of specialization is in near surface geophysics/Environmental Geophysics. In the last 17 years, I have actively been involved in teaching near surface geophysics courses relating to the environment at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Also, my research area is in groundwater resources mapping using subsurface geophysical methods such as the electrical methods, seismic refraction and electromagnetic methods. Some of these research activities have resulted in a number of publications in some of the revered academic journals both local and international.

Professor Obashoro-John is a prolific scholar and public intellectual whose works include the books Caring for Older Persons (2007), Successful Retirement (2016), and her University of Lagos Inaugural Lecture, Programme Evaluation: Back to the Future (2013). Her international scholarship includes a co-authored chapter with Professor Brian Findsen of the University of Waikato, New Zealand, addressing lifelong learning for older adults, published in Adult Education and Social Justice: International Perspectives (Firenze University Press, 2023). She has also co-authored peer-reviewed articles in public health and community education. A sought-after speaker and facilitator, she has consistently championed the view that retirement represents an opportunity for renewal and purposeful living, describing it as “freedom into freedom.”
