Senior Lecturer

Specialisation INORGANIC CHEMISTRY

Personal Statement

I am an inorganic chemist with a research focus on the design and synthesis of heterocyclic Schiff bases and their metal complexes aligned with addressing several Sustainable Development Goals. My work explores the versatile applications of these compounds across various fields. In health, I investigate their potential as therapeutic agents, particularly for the treatment of tuberculosis and malaria. Industrially, my research targets their application as corrosion inhibitors. I am also committed to agricultural innovation by developing Schiff bases as agrochemicals to improve crop protection and combat the growing threat to food security posed by pest infestation. Currently, I am exploring machine learning-guided discovery of thiazole/benzophenone based Schiff bases with potential dual-stage antimalarial activity.
